Best Vancouver Coffee Shops

Here is a rundown of the best Vancouver coffee shops and links to their websites. Vancouver has the most per capita coffee shops in North America, second only to Seattle, the birthplace of Starbucks. So there are many to choose from and the competition keeps the overall quality up.

Rank #1 : Caffe Artigiano
Caffe Artigiano is the best combination of quality coffee, great service and pleasant atmosphere. The coffee is one of the highest rated in Vancouver, and in the world. In fact a Caffe Artigiano barista recently came in second place at the 2009 World Barista Championships. In addition, they have great service and atmosphere. The baristas don't have an artificial niceness. They seem very genuine and you feel very welcomed in their coffee shop. That is why Caffe Artigiano is ranked the best Vancouver coffee shop.

Caffe Artigiano has 13 locations all across Greater Vancouver. Here's a link to their website as well as a google map of all their locations.

Rank #2 : Take 5
I like Take 5 for very similar reasons. They have great lattes and a great atmosphere. Amazing as it may sound, it's difficult to find a good latte in Vancouver. But you can find them at Take 5. The neo-italian design is sleek, simple and clean. The baristas aren't mean, but their not overly nice either. They're just neutral. The reason I ranked them the #2 best Vancouver coffee shop is because good lattes are rare, and this is the rare Vancouver coffee shop that has them.

Also, the Take 5 at Metrotown mall has been having a special that's been running forever for $2 lattes. It's so cheap, I get one whenever I am there.

Take 5 has 7 locations around Vancouver.

Rank #3 : JJ Bean Coffee Roasters
JJ Bean Coffee Roasters has some of the best drip coffees around...and their lattes aren't bad either. There are 7 retail coffee shops around the Greater Vancouver Area, but my favourite one is on the Commercial Drive strip. It looks like it used be a auto repair shop, but they've revamped it to look really cool and urban. The baristas as well as most of their customers are very colourful as well having taken on the personality of Commercial Drive.
